A Cold Winter Coming?

Here's the Mountain Ash outside our house. I have never seen it so full of berries! The branches are actually bent under the weight. Traditional wisdom would say that this is a sign of a long, cold winter coming. What do you think?

Here in the Northeast we had a couple of hot weeks in early July, but late July and August so far have been unusually cool. Personally, I've loved it! But I do have a threshold for how much snow is too much snow, so I have some concerns, too, lol.

At least there is a good meal here for all the migrating robins and other birds, once they start to travel. Anyway, a stitching post is up next!

  1. Beautiful! We've had a cool July and August, but it's beginning to heat up now. I hear you on the snow, I used to live in Ohio.

    1. Thanks, Cynthia. Yes, I think Ohio is exactly the same as here, snow-wise. Much better to be in California!

  2. a glorious sight, my mountain ash that I planted about 3 or 4 years ago has not had berries at all yet, maybe next year.

  3. Your Mountain Ash is beautiful covered in berries, I wonder if in winter you'll get photos of it covered in snow?

    1. Well, I sometimes think that every robin between here and the North Pole makes a stop at this tree on their way south, and a few other birds besides, so all the berries (and the leaves) will be gone before the snow falls. It won't be much to see then, but it is fun to watch in the mean time!

I'm told Blogger has been bouncing some comments, so if it happens to you I'm sorry! But the settings look right so I can't explain it. In any case, thanks for reading!
