Allegheny Santa

Just a quick finish to show you today.  I've been working on this while waiting for my replacement bulb for my sewing lamp.  It's one of the many Santa ornaments that Mill Hill has produced over the years.  This is one of the three Appalachian Santas.

Usually I work on these while on the road.  They are great take-along projects, and can be done in a small space and with any reasonable light.  I've done quite a few over the years!

In any case, my new bulb arrived yesterday, so now I am spoiled for choice while I consider what's next!

  2. What a great little Santa. I love the beadwork on it. I know what you mean about take-along work; it's quite amazing how much can get done on the road or in the waiting room.

  3. I've never done one of these but have the three wise men to try. I hadn't thought of them for on-the-go - thought I'd spill the beads! Will give it a go. I really like it.

    1. Jillian, I do the beads at home! You have to do all the cross stitching first anyway, and then it is just one day at home to finish up the beads. But all you need on the road is a Clover thread cutter (which I wear on a long ribbon) and the needle from the kit. No problems with airport security!

  4. That makes sense! I had assumed the beads were added as you stitch! Naive! I do quite a lot of stitching on planes, using my clover cutter - or precut thread - but mostly stick to candle wick or red work - or knit. Can't wait to try my wisemen.

I'm told Blogger has been bouncing some comments, so if it happens to you I'm sorry! But the settings look right so I can't explain it. In any case, thanks for reading!
