With the spats on the shoes and the striped outfit, I'm pretty sure this is a boy. But he feels quite familiar all the same...
Yes, that's me on the right!
I've realized that I stitched all the singles first, and now I have all the couples left. In general, the couples had more detail, so I guess I started with the easier ones. The first couple is well underway:
And here's a layout of all nine to give you a sense of where things are going:
I really do want to finish them and move on to the next steps with my plans for some pieced and applique borders. Too many projects! In any case,
Oh be still my beating heart - these stitcheries are so sweet!! That is so cute that the first one looks just like you sitting on the steps.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! I hope you can get them done soon. We all know about too many projects.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day! Anything special planned?
redwork is so easy on the eye and these are beautiful, have a book on it but so far have only made an angel cushion for one of my girls
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt this will be. Red work always reminds of coziness. Are the drawings yours or are they patterns?
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Anna Maria! The drawings are patterns that I bought probably 10 years ago now. I believe they are adapted from images that were first published around 1910-15. I agree, there is something cozy about the red/white combination!
DeleteHow about taking an outline from your photo and slipping it into the project? It would fit really well. Well done for resurrecting it for Valentines Day!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, Jillian, you are right! It would fit. Maybe I will add a little outline to the label on the back. Thank you!
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I love redwork.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emily!
DeleteI didn't realize you were a stitcher! Most of the people who read my blog are quilters or textile artists. :) I'm liking what you're dong here - I've always loved redwork - and yours is quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! Those are the most adorable little redwork sweethearts ever. I really like Jillian's idea about adding your photo into the mix; it would fit in perfectly. Super cute quilt!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Maybe some time this decade I'll finish it, lol.
DeleteI know the feeling!
DeleteSo love red work. Love the photo of you too.
