It's been like the green hills of Ireland around here this weekend!
It's time for the Week 3 link up for Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt, En Provence. Instead of Bonnie's purple four patch blocks, my flamingo-inspired colourway uses light and dark green instead.
For my simpler version of the quilt, I guessed that 100 blocks would be about the right number. Fifty have one square with flamingos on light green,
And fifty have one square with flamingos on dark green.
There are a few blocks where the flamingos were a little shy!
Overall, it's a lot of green. But, it's really nice to be working with a wide range of fabrics in colour this week! And I'm totally done! Whatever will I do with myself until the next clue?
In the meantime, please check out all the other mainly lavender-inspired squares at the link up here. Happy quilting!
Oh my goodness I love your color change. What color will you be using for the greens later on in the quilt? It's so much fun to see all the different ideas for this quilt coming together.
ReplyDeleteOooh. What a wonderful colorway!
ReplyDeleteThose flamingo prints are just darling!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the green and especially the shy block with only flamingo feet!
ReplyDeleteThose flamingoes look as if they are playing a game of hide-and-seek - either with themselves or with us. The green adds to this sense. It's looking great. I'm sure you'll find something to do while waiting!
ReplyDeleteYes, I had the same thought, with the flamingos gallivanting around in the tall grass. Thanks, Jillian! I have indeed found something else to work on. No shortage of projects around here!
DeleteThat flamingo print sure is fun and I agree with your comment about them being shy! Jillian commented about them playing hide and seek which is perfect! It is good that you don't have a shortage of projects to choose from while you wait for the next clue! Those greens are wonderful. What a terrific variety!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terry! Green is my favourite colour, so I have a lot of green fabric. But surprisingly, most of it was too brown for this quilt. It seems like new fabrics have been shifting to bluer tones lately. It keeps things challenging!
Deleteso liking your green squares, I am waiting till all instructions have been released and then maybe will have a go, purple is so hard to find here in the UK so will also be substituting it with I expect green! The flamingoes look so good even if some of them dp not want to show themselves
ReplyDeleteYou are having so much fun with this! The flamingo just makes me smile.:)
ReplyDeleteGreen is my favorite color and these look wonderful. I may have to do another one!
ReplyDeleteLove all your greens. You can almost smell the fresh outdoorsy scent.
ReplyDeleteLOL, thank you! Remember this? "Manly, yes, but I like it too!"
DeleteAh yes, Ye old Irish Spring.
DeleteGreen is my favourite too and flamingos always raise a smile.
