Save this Space

So, it's been another frustrating and painful week here at Casa Monica. This is the last day to link up with the finale of the Gwennie-Inspired Medallion quilt along. This is where I am:

The theme is "Something Fishy," so it was a great opportunity to repeat the wavy background from the centre block. Fish are also designed and will be appliqued onto the waves. I'm happy with how it's all looking. But, my back is seriously wrecked again, for the third time since the start of the summer, so no progress there. Soon, hopefully!

You can see all the posts on my Gwennie Medallion here, including the finish when it's done.

My One Monthly Goal was to sew the binding on my Cardinal Stars quilt. And, this is where I am:

The hard part is done -- the yellow flange and red binding are both machine sewn to the front, and they are straight too! But, I strained my hand sewing the binding, so I'll have to take it slower. Frustrating! And, when it's done, you'll be able to see the finish here, as well as all the other posts on this quilt.

So, that's it for now. I can't wait to get back on track!

  1. Oh no - your back AND your hand. I'm so sorry. The Cardinal Stars edge looks fantastic. I so admire straight - not my skill at all. I hope you can find some satisfying tasks that are easy on your back and don't put demands on your hand. The trouble is, I imagine, that means designing - and adding to your already long list of things to do! You are in my thoughts.

    1. LOL, thanks, Jillian. You know me well! My wrist is on the mend, so I may try a little light embroidery. If you could do it after your knee surgery, then hopefully so can I!

  2. I just noticed how the fabrics of the Gwennie Inspired Medallion Quilt and your Cardinal Stars quilt seem to work together quite nicely. It's the start of a series? The yellow flange on the binding is the perfect finish.

I hope you're feeling back to normal soon. Take care.

    1. Thank you! My first reaction was "they don't match at all!", but actually you are right! I guess it must be that I am sticking with a combination that has worked in the past, rather than consciously doing a series. Certainly that warm red is a favourite of mine. I prefer warm yellows too, but probably the cooler lemon yellows balance the reds better, so that is why I keep using them. Very interesting, thank you!

  6. Bummer about the back and the hand! I so sorry that you aren't able to proceed at the speed you want. It is frustrating to look at a project calling for your attention; but, your body is telling you otherwise! I hope the light embroidery goes well for you and I too really like that flange on your cardinal quilt.--Terry

I'm told Blogger has been bouncing some comments, so if it happens to you I'm sorry! But the settings look right so I can't explain it. In any case, thanks for reading!
