Whisperin' Turkey

If the name of these Bonnie Hunter blocks is Talkin' Turkey, then this low volume colourway must surely be whisperin!

When I was deciding whether or not to start this project, the idea of these inverse, white blocks was the clincher. And I'm so happy with how they turned out!

I already knew I was on the right track when I finished the string units:

I really think this is my favourite colour scheme.

I've been saying for a while that I'm ready to close the book on all these text fabrics (yes, sorry). But now that I am near the end on this Warm Wishes fabric, I will miss it. It has been just the right touch in so many projects! Maybe I will have to look for some more text fabrics after all.

Anyway, once again only three blocks are needed for this month's colour.

But, I definitely hope to re-visit these white strings in a future project! We'll see how things shake out.

And as always, you can see all the other variations on "light" at the RSC link up, right here.

  4. After checking out your low volume neutral strings, I'll have to revisit my stash and see what else I may find. The inverse talking turkey blocks aren't whispering to me; they're shouting spectacular!

  7. Whisperin'? Perfect. I really like the low volume look. I am also a fan of text fabrics and hope the trend stays around for a long time. In the States, some schools are not even teaching cursive handwriting anymore. Someday the only place we see it may be in these printed fabrics.

  10. Gorgeous blocks, Monica! You have such a great selection of light fabrics! Fun, fun, fun. I like how you used the slightly darker fabrics to help define the light stars. Not too dark, just dark enough to show off the star and yet still be light.

  13. Isn't it funny how some fabrics make us happy when we runout and some make us want to buy more and more. All part of the fun of fabric. I love how your blocks turned out this month, totally unexpected.

  15. Always fun to see these blocks. I love the use of strings as one square. And what fun to see white NOT used as background.

  17. I think you have a whispering wall here. You can feel the excitement of the neutrals colourway picking up in the comments and within 12 hours the idea has taken hold. These are great and varied fabrics and the resulting blocks still rely on your unerring eye for contrast and highlight. Glad you abandoned your Summer Silence!

    1. Well, the RSC colour of the month is "light", so this is only my interpretation of the theme. But, I do hope I've inspired a few people! We'll see next week. Thanks, Jillian!

  18. That is such an unusual and meaningful approach, with all the sentiments in there, and I've never seen whites on beige before. It just begged me to take a closer look.

  20. I am not a neutral fan at all but your block has worked well, not sure I will be able tp do my scrappy block this month due to lack of neutrals but will have a search

  21. Those white string blocks are definitely full of potential. I like how they work as the focus of this block rather than the background - you don't see that often but it really works.

I'm told Blogger has been bouncing some comments, so if it happens to you I'm sorry! But the settings look right so I can't explain it. In any case, thanks for reading!
